The aim of this report is to provide an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the state of Swedish waste management in 2025, with a particular focus on household waste. It presents trends in waste volumes, how waste is treated, how far we have progressed in relation to national and European targets, and the challenges and opportunities that characterise the system. By highlighting both progress and problems, we aim to provide a fact-based foundation for municipalities, decision-makers, producers and other actors, all of whom have a role to play in shaping the waste management system of the future.
This is an annual report compiled by Avfall Sverige, containing national statistics on household waste in Sweden.
